“Cultural similarities” key to merger success

One of the largest independent financial recruitment specialists in the country are celebrating the first anniversary of their merger with a record half year and a nationwide recruitment drive.

Since the merger in June last year, Axon Moore have opened new offices in London and Birmingham and recruited 15 staff with plans to replicate this growth in the next 12 months. They now have over 70 staff working out of 7 offices nationwide.

Axon Resourcing and Watson Moore joined forces in 2015. A specialist financial recruiter, the business recruits the full range of accountancy roles from part and newly qualified through to CFO, while their Axon Resourcing division specialise in the public and not for profit sectors.

Axon Moore MD, Andy Edwards said “Both firms had strengths in different markets and the merger means we can now service both large corporate clients and SMEs from a single platform. It’s great to grow but we’ve worked hard to retain the personal feel that clients and clients appreciate from an independent.”

Asked what he sees as the key to a successful merger Edwards said “We have been extremely fortunate that both businesses are on the same page culturally. You can’t underestimate how much is involved in the integration of two businesses and one thing we didn’t have to deal with was massive cultural variances which was a relief!  The teams have just got on with recruiting while the scenery shifted around them and the results are a reflection of that.”
