NHS Student Conference 2017

The NHS STUDENT CONFERENCE 2017 ‘CHARACTERISING A TRANSFORMING NHS’ was fantastically attended this year with approaching record number of students attending the 2 day annual conference in Kendal.

The speakers were predominately senior Finance Directors including Tom Jackson CFO (Liverpool CCG), Phil Wadeson – Director of Finance (Cheshire & Merseyside NHS England), Samantha Simpson – Director of Finance (Cheshire & Merseyside STP),  Claire Wilson – Chief Finance Officer (Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust) and Ismail Hafeji – Director of Finance and IM&T (Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust)

The sessions included informative sessions on finance, networking, hacking, career decisions and a day in paedeatrics A and E. The formal dinner was a lively affair with the organisers keeping the dance floor bouncing with some unusual moves.

Manning the stand on both days gave the students opportunities to interact and ask questions, it was great to have so many coming to the stand via recommendations from colleagues and managers.

Overall it was another fantastic conference with the beginnings of some new relationships and catching up with existing ones.
