Forest Holidays is a fast growing specialist provider of exclusive rural holiday accommodation.
Operating from nine premium quality sites across the UK it is focused on providing an exceptional holiday experience and achieves industry leading levels of customer engagement and retention.
Originally part of a wider group, we were introduced to its management team as they were considering a MBO that would enable the business to both focus on and develop its core offering, and in particular provide significant capital for an ambitious roll out plan.
Our remit was to find a proven Finance Director with private equity experience (ideally with a strong multi site/leisure background) who would assist the CEO (Gary Fletcher) with the deal process and form part of the management team post investment.
Working confidentially and at speed we quickly identified several potentially suitable candidates. Then as a lead contender for the role developed, we worked closely with the CEO to ensure a smooth process and successful appointment.
The incoming Finance Director, Ross Faith, joined the business in January 2013 and helped lead the business to successful MBO (backed by LDC) in September 2013.
Since the deal the business has performed strongly and continues to execute its plans to open up further sites across the country.

Gary Fletcher, CEO – Forest Holidays – “Trying to recruit a Finance Director whilst also running a business and leading a deal process meant that things were very hectic. However, bringing Ross in pre-deal made a huge difference. He made an immediate contribution, adding value right from the start, and was completely integral in ensuring that the deal happened. His background in leisure and retail also enabled him to quickly understand the business, and he has proved an excellent appointment.
As a recruitment partner Watson Moore were excellent to work with. They were highly responsive, no matter what time I called them, and immediately understood what we were after. They maintained high levels of communication throughout and helped ensure things progressed swiftly.”
