Secured Mail is one of the largest technology enabled e-commerce and postal logistics businesses in the UK. It has an outstanding track record for growth with turnover rising from zero to over £90m in the past eight years and was recently named as the North West’s fastest growing company.

Watson Moore were introduced to Secured Mail when turnover was rapidly increasing and likely to exceed the £40m mark.

Our brief was to recruit a high caliber Finance Director to bring the finance function in from a previously outsourced arrangement, and begin preparing the business for further growth and a likely secondary MBO.

Using a combination of proactive search work, advertising and our network of contacts, we were quickly able to produce a shortlist of strong candidates for interview. The successful candidate, Michael Owen, had worked as a Financial Controller in private equity backed businesses previously and was keen to make the step up to a true no1 role.

Secured Mail is now backed by Next Wave Partners and has emerged as a leading player in the packet e-commerce market with major clients such as Amazon, Debenhams, Ann Summers and City Link.
